Frequently Asked Questions

? Valve Flushing Notice

Q: When will the next valve flushing take place?
The next scheduled valve flushing will occur on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, beginning at 8:00 AM and is expected to be completed by around 3:00 PM.

Q: What is water line flushing?
Water line flushing is an essential part of maintaining our water system. It involves moving water through the pipelines at a high rate to remove sediment and buildup that naturally occur over time.

Q: How often is valve flushing done?
Flushing takes place monthly to quarterly, depending on the amount of sediment observed in the lines. This flexible schedule helps maintain high water quality throughout the year.

Q: Why do we flush the water lines?
Over time, mineral deposits, rust, and other particles can collect inside water mains. Flushing clears out these materials, helping ensure safe water quality, proper water flow, and consistent pressure throughout the community.

Q: Will valve flushing affect my water service?
You may notice slightly reduced water pressure or temporary discoloration while nearby valves are being flushed. Service will not be interrupted, though you may see wet areas around the community — this is normal.

Q: What should I do if my water looks cloudy or discolored?
This is a normal and temporary effect during or shortly after flushing.

  • Avoid water use (especially laundry ?) for about two hours.

  • Then, run cold water from an outdoor spigot for approximately five minutes or until the water clears.
If discoloration continues, please contact our Water Chairman, Joe, at ? 901-596-4735.

Q: Why is this process important?
Our Woodrun water system operates similarly to a small city system. Regular valve flushing helps keep water clean, clear, and safe for all residents. We provide advance notice so you can plan accordingly — such as postponing laundry (especially white loads) during the flushing period.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to maintain the quality of Woodrun’s water system! ??
